Accessibility
One of the most important aspects when it comes to choosing locations for Cahoots festival is the accessibility of the camp site. In 2019, drawing upon work done by the Disability caucus at the 2018 Cahoots Retreat, we launched this statement expressing our intentions, principles, and processes as organizers: 2019 Cahoots Accessibility Pledge.
In 2019, we are very pleased to work with Pearce Williams Christian Centre, arranging space at their West Camp Facility. They proactively uploaded their Floorplans and Video Tours of their buildings to their website, helping provide information to Cahoots participants about the accessibility of the site.
Accessible washrooms and showers are to be found in both the Longhouse (main gathering space) and the Dining Room.
Although the site is very large and has various trails, etc, all of the programmed activities take place in and around the same cluster of buildings, including meals, sessions and lodging. A concrete path and ramps connect most of these buildings (Cabin C is a short distance away over a grassy area)
Lodging
Everyone staying overnight will be assigned a bed in a shared room, or can choose to camp for more privacy. The rooms are all equipped with bunk beds, and you’ll need to pack bedding (a pillow, and either sheets or sleeping bag).
For 2019, beds will either be in one of the ‘Cabins’ or in the Dorm. We assign lodging based on accessibility needs, family and friend groups, and categories selected during registration.
Getting to the Site
Pearce Williams is about 25 minutes drive from St Thomas, 45 minutes from London, 1 hour 45 minutes from either Windsor or Hamilton.
Registered Cahoots participants will have access to a carpooling tool to coordinate getting to and from the site. This is at your own discretion. Please use the tool pro-actively!
For those who cannot be accommodated by the carpool schedule, we will coordinate pick ups from the Greyhound or VIA Rail station in London, ON.
